About
Josie Lane is an award-winning Australian cabaret and musical theatre artist.
Her theatre roles include Lady of the Lake in One Eyed Man Productions' national tour of Monty Python's Spamalot, originally premiering at Hayes Theatre Co. in 2019; Little Shop of Horrors (Luckiest Productions/Tinderbox Productions); Miracle City (Luckiest Productions in 2014 and The Theatre Division in 2017); The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Sydney Theatre Company); Priscilla Queen of the Desert — the Musical (Back Row in 2007 and Michael Cassel Group in 2018); Avenue Q (Arts Asia Pacific); Fame (GFO); and Into the Woods (Victorian Opera). With The Production Company in Melbourne, her credits include The Pirates of Penzance, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Boy From Oz, and Jerry's Girls, in which she appeared as herself alongside a cast of some of Australia's most loved leading ladies.
In cabaret, her one-woman shows Josie in the Bathhouse (co-written with Dean Bryant) for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival and Melbourne Spiegeltent, and Asian Provocateur (Winner — Best Cabaret, 2016 Sydney Theatre Awards) have brought sass and high-energy camp to audiences.
Creating and supporting new Australian work is something very close to Josie's heart. She has had the privilege of being part of workshops, developments, and readings for shows including A Little Touch of Chaos by James Millar and Peter Rutherford, DreamSong by Rob Tripolino and Hugo Chiarella, and Housewarming/The Gathering by Will Hannagan and Belinda Jenkins, as well as providing vocals on The Silver Donkey by Matthew Frank and Dean Bryant. Most recently, she has been involved with Fluxus opera concepts for Flash House by Virginia Gay and Victoria Falconer.
As a vocalist, Josie has toured extensively with David Campbell as his backing vocalist and appeared on his seventh studio album Let's Go. She has also channelled her inner Queen worldwide with the late Michael Falzon's Rock Rhapsody for corporates and on cruise lines including Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises.
Josie has been a member of musical theatre improvisation troupe The Impromptunes and has studied improvisational comedy at Upright Citizens Brigade NYC, iO (formerly known as Improv Olympic) Chicago, Magnet Theatre NYC, and Impromptunes AUS.
Alongside all of this, Josie has proudly worked on the Performers in Education team as a puppeteer with children's cancer charity Camp Quality across NSW, ACT, VIC, and TAS, bringing joy and laughter to hospitals and primary schools through the characters Kylie, Dean, and Mel.
Josie is also a trained vegan chef who has worked in kitchens in London and Melbourne.

Press & Reviews
Josie Lane is sassy, sexy, brash, bold and beautiful. Lane's story telling is loud and dynamic and she holds nothing back. In Asian Provocateur you feel that Lane is letting you into her world and you are grateful for her honesty and sense of humour.
— Emily Shaddick, Australian Stage Online
What's constant throughout all her performances is a compelling intensity and connection to the lyrics. Asian Provocateur is deeply personal — about Lane's childhood, family and relationship with her Filipino mother — and quietly political. It's this dichotomy which makes the cabaret such a triumph.
— Ben Neutze, Daily Review
Her voice is pretty and light in the upper registers and a powerful belter when she needs it to be. Her energy is inspiring and her warmth endearing. She had audience engagement from the get-go.
— Carolyn Watts, What's On Sydney
Josie Lane raises the roof with powerhouse vocals as the glamorously clad Lady of the Lake. Her comic timing is perfect too and her rendition of Diva's Lament (Whatever Happened To My Part) in the second act is an absolute hoot and a highlight of the show.
— Jo Litson, Limelight Magazine
Lane is the big-voiced star of this show, delivering the kind of high drama with her powerhouse voice; an audience member on opening night muttered an audible “wow” as she took a breath between dazzling vocal acrobatics.
— Cassie Tongue, Time Out Sydney
Ms Lane has immense stage presence, a fine voice and she works the crowd with equal measures of sweetness and sass.
— Stephen Davenport, Australian Stage
